AYL U16 KO CUP RD 1
INGLESIDE 0
FRY CLUB 3
Ingleside had gained promotion to Div 3 from
last season so were not a team to underestimate. The opening 20 mins of the
first half showed that they were capable of creating chances although the best
chance fell to Jordan Knight who unluckily guided his shot just over the bar.
Ryan Gibbs started on the right side for his first competitive game and showed
some good touches during the first half. The back three of Scott Gregory, Oli
Murray and Kyle Curtis though controlled most of the Ingleside attacks and
provided support when we had possession. Likewise, Danny McCarthy was also
hunting for the ball which in turn released Oli Randall and Mo Bouaziz more
forward when we attacked. The front two of James Boulton and Charlie Frampton
was proving effective as the Ingleside defence struggled to cope with their
strength. The deadlock was broke in the 23rd minute as a good pass from James
Boulton found Charlie Frampton out wide right who beat the full back and put
in a great cross for Mo Bouaziz to volley home our first goal. As we searched
for our second, Ingleside came back and if Craig Francis in goal hadn't made a
wonderful reaction save, they would have equalised. So, we had to settle for a
1-0 lead at half time.
It was more of the same in the second half as
Ingleside struggled to create many opportunities. Once again though, they did
have one golden chance which again Craig saved very well. On 60 mins, we had a
throw deep into their half which was quickly taken to Danny McCarthy who
shifted the ball onto his right foot and put in a wonderful chip which
deflected off the defenders foot and looped over the keeper to put us 2-0 up.
On 75 mins the win was sealed as Nathan Dawson was put through down the right,
beat the defender and put in another great cross from the bye line to Charlie
Frampton who side footed home our third and cap a great individual
performance. Oli Randall also had a good chance to score but his
thunderous volley somehow found its way into the cabbage patch as it cleared
the bar by some distance.
A deserved victory which gave our players great
confidence when in possession as we found we could pass to another red shirt
when required. Every player put a lot of effort into todays game but in
particular we were very impressed with the performance of our striker Charlie
Frampton who was awarded todays Man of the Match for his non stop running and
goal.
